Greco is an Italian surname, one of the most common in the whole country, and it literally means "Greek". Historically, its popularity is due to the frequent relationships between Italy and Greece: in particular, it spread within the Griko communities in the South of Italy and the Arbëreshë minority emigrated from the Balkans since the 15th century. Curiously enough, it is also listed as a Jewish surname in Italy.
